Comic-Con 2009 in San Diego!

As I was growing up, one of the reasons I wanted to learn karate was because I was introduced to the concept of superheros watching cartoons and reading comic books. I was a fan of Superman, Flash, Spiderman, Batman & Robin as well as Wonder Woman and Captain America!

Comics helped me understand (as well as a child can) that there were bad guys in the world and if you had a super power – you could easily thwart any antagonistic attack! Later as I entered my teen years, I realized that Kato of the Green Hornet, Robin of Batman and Robin, and James West of the Wild, Wild West all knew karate! This seemed more attainable to me as I realized that super powers did not really exist.

In this post I will give a very superficial overview (of the youtube videos) of Comic-con but I am ashamed to say that even though I live in San Diego, I have not yet attended one of these wonderful events. Here is a Comic-con martial arts demo from 2006.

Get a real ninja costume for Halloween.

I started watching Star Wars as a teenager. At the time I remember thinking that I would be middle aged by the time they created the last one – who knew they would create prequels? :)

I have watched some of the costumes over the years on the local news and was amazed at how creative these Comic-conites were! The women really went all out to try and recreate their chosen characters.

I have so many favorites in this video! Hmm let me see, I like Star Wars, The Little Mermaid, Kratos, and Tank Girl! If I ever go, I cannot bring my family because I’ll stay the whole weekend! Here are some more crazy costumes.

What Comic-Con would be complete without an intergalactic fashion show? Well here for the first time is your first look at the Star Trek fall fashions ladies!

One of the best movies I ever saw was Iron Man! I had to talk long and hard to get my wife to accompany me (I watched the requisite chic-flicks and lifetime TV) but she agreed. She like it too! I saw this panel of Iron Man 2 in this next video! I was happy to see Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson in this version as I love them both.

I loved that a man could just put on a suit and become the master of the universe! Or at least of the Earth. Here is a clip of Iron Man 2!

I hope you have enjoyed this look at Comic-con 2009. Live long and prosper.
